A friend said something lovely to me last week, about how I was a great role model for my children with my business. And it was such a lovely thing to hear.

If I can teach my children anything, it’s just this. Don’t let your fear of anyone’s opinions stop you from doing what you want to do.

And I want to say this to you too. Don’t be afraid to show up on your social media, to jump on a video.

Ok you don’t need to do a video like this, maybe that is too far out of your comfort zone. But you totally can chat to camera.

Think who do you want to be and if you have children or even friends with children. What sort of role model do you want to be with your dreams and business?

Sometimes when I show up for a content shoot, my c Sometimes when I show up for a content shoot, my clients naturally feel nervous. I totally get it, because I used to feel like this about getting in front of the camera (…. Really).

The first video shoot I did with @emmacossey I know she was nervous too. We went slowly until I worked out what she felt comfortable with. And as we have progressively worked together (for nearly 18 months now), she’s got braver and her comfort zone has got a little bit bigger each time. And I love our content shoots now and we have so much fun, but it’s taken time to build this confidence.

The moral of the story? It’s ok to feel nervous and daunted about getting in front of the camera. It’s ok to take things in small baby steps. But by taking the first brave step, you might just start something both great for you business and something that fills your cup too.

What is your biggest fear about getting in front of the camera and showing up?

Can you spot the moment we get the actual giggles? Can you spot the moment we get the actual giggles? 🤣

But it really doesn’t matter what stage of business you’re in… and I did feel like I had to do this when I first started out. You deserve to be paid for you time, work and expertise.

I’m not talking about skill swaps which can be really beneficial. I’m talking about often big brands asking you to work for free to essentially get your name out there.

Spoiler alert…. Having fallen into this trap. Exposure doesn’t pay the bills. It doesn’t put food on the table and it’s rarely ever worth it. You deserve to be paid. I never work for free now and neither should you.

A few mini highlights from our holiday. We honestl A few mini highlights from our holiday. We honestly kept things fairly simple. We were very lucky with the weather - combined with paddleboarding work my husband is so tanned he looks like he’s been to the Mediterranean!

We spent most of our days on the beach. I read lots of books, we explored a castle. My family love a castle. And it was lovely to have Poppy with us this year too. Can you believe we have had her a year now?

And the best part of it was time spent together.
