It probably does not surprise you to know that I both love a dress and I love to dress up. For me, Christmas day is not about my PJs, I like to go to bed in new PJs, but wearing them on the day is a big no, no. It’s about glam, dressing up, all the jewellery and make-up. I also love a Christmas party and all the bling that it represents. In summary, it’s an awesome time of year for clothes! So this Christmas, I am very excited to be working with Very.co.uk who challenged me to put together a fabulous Christmas party outfit. A challenge I was very happy to accept.

When I started looking on their website, I immediately fell in love with this Maxi serenity dress by Monsoon, I love stars and the drama of a maxi dress. I’m also a massive fan of Monsoon dresses and they are my go-to for occasion dressing. It’s the type of dress that’s not too dressy that it cannot be worn for every day. It’s made of 100% viscose and it really soft to wear. With flattering waist detailing that comes in under the bust. I am wearing a size 20 here and I would say it’s true to size. The dress is long though and I am pretty tall for a woman and I think with heels or wedges it would be fine, but I think I will have it shortened slightly for day-to-day wear.

I’ve worn the dress with this gorgeous buttery soft Very Curve leather jacket from their plus size range. A leather jacket is a great wardrobe must-have to wear out with dresses or for a more casual weekend dressing with denim. I sized up in this jacket after reading some reviews that it came up small and I am glad that I did, I am wearing a size 22 here and I think a 20 would have been too small. But I love the jacket and the leather really is so soft.

As well as red-lippy, jewellery to go with any party outfit is a must. I’ve gone for gold accessories to complement the gold stars on the dress. Here I have chosen Lipsy gold-plated, jet star earrings which are gorgeous. The necklace is also Lipsy it’s their gold-plated starburst necklace and to complete the bling a chunky gold-plated statement ring from Love Silver. All are really fabulous pieces.

Since my spinal surgery in June, I have not been able to manage heels and in fairness, my health is more important than stunning shoes, no matter how pretty they may be. So I have been wearing boots and trainers with my dresses. An outfit like this needed a pair of boots with added sparkle and so I opted for these patent, wide-fit lace-up boots. They also have zips to make them easy to pull on and off again, which with some who has had back surgery I am finding very handy at the moment. The boots have lovely gold detailing that goes perfectly with my outfit and are very, very comfy. They look great with this dress and would also go well with jeans or with dungarees for a different take.

I’m absolutely delighted with my outfit, and really love all of the pieces and can see them getting plenty of wear. They are a mix of wardrobe staples, plus an amazing statement dress and jewellery. Very.co.uk is a great destination for party outfit shopping this festive season as they group so many of my favourite brands all together on one site and I felt fantastic in my selection.
