I think a lot of parents at the moment are concerned about their children’s learning. By the time mine return in September, they will not have been at school for 5.5 months.

Home schooling was challenging and as parents we have all tried our best, but, let’s face it, we’re not teachers. It’s not going to be the same level of teaching they receive in school. Although I do think I have learnt from doing it and gained an insight into how my children are doing.

This is why I was really interested to hear about Atom Learning.

What is Atom Learning?

Atom Learning is a Key Stage 2 educational platform aimed at children aged 8 – 12. The platform focuses on teaching children in 4 core areas:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Non Verbal Reasoning

As well as being tailored to the National Curriculum, these are the areas that the 11+ exams focus on if you are thinking about sending your child to grammar school. Your child can also prepare for the 11+ by taking full-length mock tests on the platform.

The platform is packed with teacher-written questions, mini-tests, and video and text-based resources. Through Atom Learning, you can even gain access to private tutors to consolidate your child’s understanding of their weaker subjects, or to support them with any gaps in their learning that have developed during lockdown.

It also has a rather clever algorithm that works out how your child is performing and where they need to build their knowledge, and it will adjust the questions they are given accordingly.

Free Summer Holiday Courses

If you are worried about gaps in your child’s skills after the long absence from school, Atom Learning is currently offering free week-long summer courses throughout July and August. The core classes are in Maths and English, and there are additional courses in reasoning, creative writing and exam interview skills. This is a great way to catch up on key skills before returning to school in September.

Free 5 Day Trial

If you want to try out the platform, they offer a 5-day free trial so you and your child can have a go to see if the platform will benefit you.

Clever Dashboard for Parents

As a parent, the platform also has some really cool tools that you review. The Atom Learning dashboard lets you see at a granular level how your child is doing. You can see certain areas where they are doing really well and areas where they may need additional support. It also lets you see their mastery. Their mastery is the probability your child will answer an average difficulty question correctly in that given subject.

  1. Hi there – i have just had a ‘cut off’ on their web chat – they have admitted they haven’t thought about SENCO – I am appalled – now they have cut me off and deleted chat – looks like internet not working – but nothing wring with my internet – other sites working. Despite being a premium subscriber things are gated and and marketing strategy is dubious. They wont even commit to when someone MIGHT come back to me on my queries – not least where i have reported that some assessment qts are wrong – and the impact that has on a SEN child mid-assessment. I am amazed at how many schools have been so quick to endorse this organisation. Try speaking with them…i cant get past gate keeper.

    • Hello Jigna – thank you for your comment. My son is suspected autistic we’re just going through the referral process, so SEN is very important to my family and I. This isn’t the experience I have had at all.

I’ve just had a chat with Atom Learning about your comment as we have been really pleased with the platform so far. They have confirmed that an appropriate resolution was found for you on the day you contacted them. I recommend contacting them via enquiries@atomlearning.co.uk and they can help you if you still have any further concerns.
