Storytime Magazine Review
It’s that time of year when we are all looking for thinking of that perfect gift for someone for Christmas. I like the idea of a subscription as a gift as I think of it as the gift that keeps on giving every month way after the special day has passed.
This month, we have been sent two editions of Storytime Magazine to review. Which is a children’s magazine packed full of classic children’s stories, puzzles and games and something I like best of all is it has absolutely no adverts in.
We have been sent The Firebird issue which is full of Robin Hood, Mr. Nobody, King of Cats and lots more. And the Christmas issue with The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol and Christmas themed content.
The magazines are full of lots of short stories, each beautifully illustrated. The stories are also accompanied with a little note – for example ‘Imagine it – imagine you are going on an adventure to see the world…’ to encourage children’s imagination after they have finished reading the stories.
On top of the stories, there are also activities for children to do based on the stories. From colouring in, sections for drawing, crosswords and challenges.
On the evening these arrived and I mentioned to my son that we were going to do the review, he could barely focus on his school reading as he was more excited about reading the magazines. He’s 6, but he is very ahead with his reading and he immediately sat down and started reading some of the stories.
Another big win was the activities in the book, as soon as he spotted them he asked if he could do them, and loved sitting down and going through them.
This is a great little magazine, particularly I think if you have a child who loves to read or, loves to be read new stories. I also think it would make a great gift.
