Both @emmacossey and I are such firm believers in Both @emmacossey and I are such firm believers in this. Collaboration over competition everyday of the week.

In fact, every time I have chosen collaboration over competition, great things have happened. Because choosing to illuminate someone else’s business can make yours even brighter.

It’s so easy to compare and fear those that do similar to you. But you will attract your own crowd and people that are right for you. It won’t dim your light, it will make both of yours more sparkly. And we love a bit of sparkles… don’t you?

Ahh the irony of talking about this on a reel 🤣 R Ahh the irony of talking about this on a reel 🤣

Reels aren’t dead, I absolutely promise you. But content that declares stuff like this is meant to create that fear factor - oh no I am not doing good enough, I am getting it wrong. You’re not. All types of posts are important for your social media strategy. No one style is going to make or break your account.

What will is the strategy behind your content. What you are sharing not how you are sharing it. Stories, community and connection.

Short form video isn’t going anywhere. But other content is important too.

Big thanks to @fundraisersarah for being my partne Big thanks to @fundraisersarah for being my partner in crime (victim) for this reel 🤣

So let’s talk about it. ‘Going viral’ is often put as the ultimate goal for social media. And when those numbers start to go up, I’m not going to lie… it can get very exciting!

But if you’re a small business owner, you’re not an influencer. Your goal is not to reach as many people as possible, it’s to build a community who want to work with you. Or may be interested in working with you in the future.

Sometimes going viral can be brilliant. But sometimes it can mean attracting an audience who are not your people. And diluting the power of your account.

This is why it’s so important that you think about the strategy of the content you are putting out there. To make sure it’s aligned with your business.

If you’re a small business owner always think community first.

What are your experiences?

Wow, what an absolutely incredible day. A massive Wow, what an absolutely incredible day. A massive thanks to @thebusinessnest for organising this moving day of celebration for International Women’s Day.

Where we talked rawly and openly about being a woman in 2026. The ups and downs, the highs and lows. We heard of incredible achievements and challenges.

The room was full of amazing energy and joy of women lifting each other up. And some truly incredible speakers.

I could happily do it all again next week.

Happy International Women’s Day (the day is officially on Sunday, but today we celebrated)
