When summer arrives, I am absolutely here for clothing that feels cool, comfortable and effortless to wear. I want outfits that look styled without feeling restrictive, especially on busy days when I’m working, travelling around or trying to survive warmer weather without feeling uncomfortable by lunchtime.
My body has changed a lot over the last year, and hardly any of my summer clothes fit anymore. So I was really excited to try pieces from the Loved by Jasmine collection from Cotton Traders. They have a gorgeous new collection, but as always it was the bright colours that attracted me, as you know I love my colour!
I picked two pieces from the collection: a loose shirt and trouser co-ord set, and a cream and red maxi dress. I’m wearing both in a size 14 and found them really true to size and a lovely relaxed fit.
Printed Shirt & Trouser Set
The co-ord set is exactly the kind of outfit I gravitate towards at this time of year because it instantly looks styled with very little effort. The loose fit keeps it feeling breathable and comfortable, but because it’s a matching set, it still gives that polished “I made an effort” look. On top of that, it feels just like I am wearing pjs they are that comfortable. Here I am wearing the longline printed shirt and longline printed trousers.
I also love how versatile co-ords are because you can wear them together or style the pieces separately. The shirt would look gorgeous thrown over denim shorts or worn open over a vest top, while the trousers could easily be paired with a simple white tee or vest for a more casual daytime look.
Accessories can change the look and these would be great additions:
- chunky gold jewellery
- a woven or raffia bag
- oversized sunglasses
- flat sandals or white trainers for daytime
- wedges or heeled sandals if you wanted to dress it up for dinner or holiday evenings
I think this outfit look chic in summer without trying too hard.
The Cream & Red Maxi Dress
My second outfit is this printed long sleeve maxi dress in cream with red detailing. Iy might actually be my favourite because it’s one of those easy throw-on pieces that still makes you feel really put together. The cream and red print feels so fresh and summery, and the relaxed fit makes it incredibly wearable on hot days. Also, I just love dresses.
Maxi dresses are also one of the easiest things to accessorise because they work with so many different styles, depending on the vibe you want. I feel like this dresses is screaming for a tan belt and sandals, I must invest in some!
I also really appreciate clothing that feels flattering without being clingy, and both of these outfits have that easy, floaty feel that makes them ideal for warmer weather.
Why I Love Loose Clothing in Summer
When temperatures rise, I think comfort becomes such a huge part of style. Loose, breathable clothing not only keeps you cooler, but it also gives outfits that relaxed, effortless aesthetic that always feels stylish during summer months.
And as someone who spends a lot of time balancing work, motherhood and everyday life, I love pieces that feel easy to wear while still making me feel confident and put together.
