We’re all stuck indoors at the moment, and something we are all really appreciating is the simple comforts of life. One of those simple comforts for me, is our bed. Being able to snuggle down after a crazy day of Mum school!

Spundown Medium Support Pillow

I have been meaning to update our pillows for ages. Did you know that it is recommended that you change your pillows every two years? This is in order to make sure your neck and head is getting enough support and to prevent a dust mite problem.

We have been sent the Spundown Medium Support Pillow from Trendsetter. One of the things that appealed to me about this pillow is that it’s washable and that it will retain its quality wash after wash. It is also filled with advanced Smartfil® fibres, these highly compressible fibres recover and return to their original plump shape even after repeated washing. I have been hit already this year with young children with a stomach bug being ill in my bed, so washable bedding it totally a must in this house!

I can definitely attest to the fact that these pillows are really plump. I’ve ordered two, but to be honest, I am perfectly happy just sleeping on one.

Talking of those dust mites, a great way of preventing them and increasing the life of your pillows is to get pillow protectors. I have also been sent spundown pillow protectors to accompany the pillows and they are really thick and such lovely quality. There is a zip on one end too to make sure they don’t slip out. They can be removed and washed at 60 degrees.

The Night Owl Duvet

Do you hate changing your duvet covers? Then the Night Owl duvet is the answer to your prayers. It is a duvet and a duvet cover all-in-one. No more wrestling with duvet covers, just chuck it all in the washing machine when it needs cleaning, and it quick dries in just an hour and a half in the tumble drier.

The duvet is easily stored in a bag. So another good way to use it is to keep it in as a spare for guests. Without having to have a duvet and different covers in, just in case. The texture of the duvet has a silky kind of sateen feel to it, but is very soft.

It comes in several different colours and different weights for different seasons. You can also purchase matching pillow cases. Another great aspect is that is comes with a 2 year guarantee.

So it’s a great alternative solution if you hate wrestling duvet covers, or aren’t physically able to. I know it was something I really struggled with at the end of my pregnancy with a king size duvet.

  3. Yes I really hate changing the duvet, it’s such a tricky job, so I tend to put it off for as long as I can. This is such a great idea.

  9. That duvet changing is the bane of my life. How do you not end up getting trapped in that overlapping material. I’ve seen others do it without fuss and there is magic involved.

  10. Yes! I can never get it into the corners and I always end up with an empty flap of fabric at the top.

  11. I swear it’s a double edged sword- nothing can build up a sweat quite like tackling getting a duvet into the duvet cover, but gosh is it so satisfying once it’s done and you can crawl into a freshly made bed at night.

  12. Oh yes! My daughter also has a loft bed so its so hard to get sheets on neatly and the duvet all tucked in.

  13. Hate it, with a vengeance! It’s one of the few jobs around the house that my other half just can’t (read won’t) do – so all 4 beds left to me…

  14. Yes I do hate it, especially when I’m at work as a housekeeper and have to change 9 duvets per shift.

  15. There is a variety of ways to tackle changing a duvet cover. Single bedding I find is ok. As aim for corners first. Double / King Size etc :- Best done with assistance. That isn’t always easy. So what I resort to sometimes is by making use of clothes pegs :- Once two corners done, make use of clothes pegs to keep cover and duvet together. Whilst tackling the other two corners.

Many of us would love the task to be done by :- Perhaps a robot, maybe someday this will be possible.

  18. The bane of my existence. I know there are techniques for changing the duvet but I’m sure that those practitioners are using deeply secret and arcane duvet magic!

  19. Yes I hate it and always end up inside the duvet itself trying to push the quilt into the far corners!

  20. I hate changing the duvet, but once its done and the feeling of having lovely clean sheets and the smell of fresh sheets is lovely.

  21. I don’t mind changing the cover on smaller duvets, but changing the cover on the winter weight superking duvet we use on our bed when it’s cold is pretty much impossible unless I get my husband to help.

  22. Loathe it, especially since buying a super king size one for our double bed. It saves us arguing about hogging the duvet but takes two of us to change it!

  23. I love changing the bedding, as much as i break out in a sweat, i just love the feel of fresh bedding ?

  24. Yes! I’m only 5 foot tall and we have a king size bed, so it’s a full body work out each time!

  25. I dread the duvet changing. I just about cope with a single cover change, but anything bigger has to be a two man job, where both of us end up hot and bothered.

  26. Changing a single duvet is no problem and I don’t mind it. Changed a double or a king is impossible and I don’t even attempt it any more. I leave that to my husband!

  27. I don’t mind it. I find if you have the duvet cover inside out and put your hands inside to each top corners its easy to get on. xx
