What if Sheep Could Fly & What if Hens were Huge by Jâho
What if Sheep Could Fly and What if Hens were Huge were originally both french books written and illustrated by Jâho, and translated into English by Judy Bee. They are both fun, bright and colourful books delivered in bold, large letters and with a sense of humour.

As you can probably grasp by the title, What if Sheep Could Fly poses the question, what would sheep do if they could fly? Would they go on holiday or would they fly to the moon?
As you might expect, in a similar vein, What if Hens Were Huge works on the same basis – would they be as big as mountains? Would they have to wear crash helmets to stop aeroplanes from crashing into them?
The concept is silly and fun, and children are really amused by the different scenarios that the book kept proposing. They break so far from the normal that my children found them laugh-out-loud funny.
The writing is big and bold and easy to read on each page, so if you have an early reader they are easy to read too. The stories are very simplistic, which means that they can appeal to quite a large age range. From the younger children around 2/3 years old to older school-age children. My son is 6 years old and at first, I thought they might be too young for him, but he had a good chuckle at the silliness of the books and wanted to sit and read them himself. So they definitely still held appeal.
Verdict:
A fun couple of books with bright illustrations and the silly concept to make children laugh.

Can’t beat a silly book and sounds like these appeal to such a large age range, I hadn’t heard of them but certainly worth a read 🙂 #KLTR
Ahh I love the sound of these books! I suspect they’re based on actual children’s questions too 😉 #KLTR

Fun sounding books that I’m
sure would be fantastic read aloud, and appreciated in a classroom setting. I’m sure this would encourage lots of interesting discussion too. Silly, hilarious books are also a great tool to entice reluctant readers. #KLTR
