Lovely Things #20 – November 2016

Lovely Things

Welcome to November’s Lovely Things. Am I allowed to say that it’s now just over 6 weeks until Christmas? And that next time I write a Lovely Things post my Christmas tree will be up – squee! Sorry I love Christmas. Anyway October was all about autumn for me, putting away summer and embracing all things autumnal and wrapping up in some cosy new clothes. We had half term too which I loved so much I wrote separate post all about it, if you fancy having a bit of a nose! 😉

Logan’s Birthday

logan-5th-birthday

October saw Logan’s 5th birthday. I love it when it’s my children’s birthdays, I love organising things for them and picking out the right presents, seeing their faces when they open them. As well as lots and lots of family time. It was a school day on Logan’s actual birthday and it was very weird not being able to see him all day, I really missed him on his birthday. But he went to school with a badge and sweets to give out to his friends. After school he came home and opened his birthday presents – his main present was a bright orange bike and an Optimus Prime transformer. Then we all went out as a family to Pizza Express for dinner. Where Logan was absolutely delighted when the waitress put a candle in his brownie and the restaurant sang happy birthday to him. It was really sweet. We had a joint party for him and his friends during half term.

New Jobs

It’s been a month of big changes at our house jobs wise. Firstly for my husband who started a brand new job on the 31st. If you have been following my blog for a while you may remember that he hasn’t been at his old job that long – a year almost to the date in fact. He actually wasn’t actually looking for a new job, but a really fantastic opportunity came his way that he couldn’t refuse. It’s a promotion and I’m really so pleased for him. He also travelled a lot in his old job and his new job means less travel which is great for family life balance.

I also made a decision in terms of my work and have closed down my Cambridge Weight Plan business and decided to focus my time on my blogging and freelance writing and social media work instead. I’m still really trying to get the balance right with work and family life – it’s far from easy, but I feel so much better now I have made the decision and really excited about what next year holds.

A Morning with Panasonic

On Tuesday of last week, I was invited to go to Panasonic’s Headquarters and meet some of their team and learn more about their products. Which also happens to be just down the road from me. Did you know that they have a fully functional beauty salon and kitchen there? Which is rather cool.

I was a lucky lady and had my hair tonged by a hair stylist and was given one of their hairdryers to try, which I will be reviewing on the blog soon. They have some great new beauty products available and some new ones coming soon. From IPL and epilators, facial cleansing brushers and a fabulous new tool that is meant to reduce the appears of fine lines.

I also go to see some of their tools in their state of the art kitchen, where we did some cooking. I fell in love with the microwave-combi ovens where we cooked yummy jacket potatoes super fast, and made a really taste and moist lemon drizzle cake. As well as an awesome juicer that my husband would love and washing machine envy (you know you’re a Mum when you say that one). But in general it was just a fun morning.

Here is my tonged hair 🙂 .

  2. I;m so glad Ben has such a great new job, how lovely that there is less travel too, and that in combination with stopping Cambridge will hopefully mean more time for yourselves. Your hair looks fab and that day at Panasonic looks brilliant – I would have wanted to buy everything! And Logan’s birthday looks great – that’s a really good reminder for me to get some sweets of Ava to take in on her birthday next month! xx #lovelythings

  3. Our men could be twins! Mine started his new job the same time as yours and had only been in his previous job for a year but an opportunity came up that he couldn’t refuse. Isn’t it lovely when everything seems to work out. It sounds like your little boy had a fab birthday too. I can imagine it was odd not spending it with him but at least you had a tasty meal to celebrate x
