This is a book I didn’t discover until my daughter was born, so I didn’t read to my son until he was older which is such a shame as it’s so fab. It’s a book that would be on my top ten of books every child should own. It is a gorgeous story about two hares – Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare. We don’t know know if they are parent and child, siblings or what their relationships is, although my children assume it’s parent and child – but I think this is nice that you can adapt the book to whoever is reading it.

The book is a story about love, translated into a way that children can understand. The theme of the book is (as you could probably guess) about how much Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare love one another and it is wonderful in its simplicity.

Guess How Much I Love You starts with Little Nutbrown Hare asking Big Nutbrown Hare how much he thinks he loves him.

‘ “This much,” said Little Nutbrown Hare, stretching out his arms as wide as they can go.’

Then the story takes off from there with each hare declaring their love in a heart warming way.

Both of my children love books, but my daughter doesn’t always last until the end of every book at story time. But, with this book both of them always end end up clambering all over my lap to make sure they are both able to see the pages.

It has also started off a game where they both try to show me just how much they love me, which is just so lovely. So, so lovely. As you can see them demonstrating.

The book we have is a board book and is really good quality and also saves the ‘accidental rips’ my daughter often seems to have with books.

Verdict:

Guess How Much I Love You really is wonderful. It’s innocent and charming. It’s a book that all young children will enjoy and really is one you should add to your bookshelves asap if you haven’t already.

  1. I absolutely adore this book. A friend bought it for me at my baby shower and I love reading it to my baby boy. We also have the same board book one – hopefully it will last well. I actually assumed it was parent and child, but you’re right it doesn’t explicitly say! Love the pictures of your two, they clearly have so much fun! #KLTR

  3. I love the illustrations og Guess How Much I Love you. My little man hasn’t discovered them as I think he likes bright colours of younger board books at the moment. But there is time! I’ll enter your comp in a hope I win a copy! #kltr
